Nu Music 87: getting ready for the move back to Cali
Yeah so it’s true. I’m moving back to LA. I’ve had a good go here with the London city lifestyle, but it’s time to pack up and head back. I’m really going to miss it here though. I don’t think I could have survived here without Dan, so I’m lucky to have managed to steel a few years of his time. Something tells me we’ll be living in the same city again someday though. We’ll try to squeeze one more show in before I move out though. Dr. Spence called me the other day sayin he was jonzing to get back on for one more London show, so we will do our best to make it happen.
thanks everyone for downloading the shows!

What a wicked show guys! I loved every single track. It really helped me out being that my iPod died a couple weeks ago and took half my music collection down with it.
But I must say, it feels like the end of an era - no more Dan? or Dr. Spence? - although I can’t wait to hear from him one last time. And on top of all that, I’m graduating college this spring and the thought of not having my beloved NU crew to cheer me up may almost be worse than the thought of finishing my college degree in time for the worst recession since the dirty thirties.
Thanks for all the great song picks Dan, you will be missed.

Hi, this is Alden emailing.
I work at Sarathan Records, an indie record label in Seattle, WA. I looked over your website and took a listen to some of your play lists. You’ve got some good rock/heavy pop stuff on there like Animal Collective. I thought I’d toss you a track by a band called War Tapes. They’ve got an interesting rock/pop sound that I think you’d appreciate.
Here you can download a tune from their debut LP, The Continental Divide, set to be released on May 26th!

If you’ll humor me for a moment with this brief bragcast, earlier this month, two War Tapes songs were played on Carson Daly Show five times. Four War Tapes songs (including two live performances) were also recently featured on Greek, on ABC family. There are some very developments for War Tapes in the works, and I’ll be sure to keep you posted. (That’s my job, after all.)
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the tune! Feel free to share with whomever you like.
Cheers!
Alden

Completely off-topic, but would you know this song? Google doesn’t know and I thought you would be a good person to ask.
These are the lyrics as I hear them.
avoidance is not an art
throw my troubles in a box and bury them in the yard
packed with dirt, packed down hard
go inside for the day, hope i never see them again
but then comes spring
blossoming
up they grow, call them weeds
i know i say the dandelions are beautiful
take them inside
there they are in front of me
all my troubles now as weeds
but it’s so cold out in december
never would i wait
no summer to come
but it’s so cold out in december
never would i pray
no summer to come
hate how i look in my summer clothes
hate how i look in my summer clothes
arms and legs all sticking out, man i’m so exposed
arms and legs all sticking out, i’m already exposed
denial is not an art
throw my troubles in a box and bury them in the yard
packed with dirt, packed down hard
go inside for the day, hope i never see them again
but then comes spring
blossoming
up they grow, call them weeds
i know i say the dandelions are beautiful
take them inside
but it’s so cold out in december
never would i wait
no summer to come
but it’s so cold out in december
never would i pray
no summer to come
hate how i look in my summer clothes
hate how i look in my summer clothes
arms and legs all sticking out, man i’m so exposed
arms and legs all sticking out, i’m already exposed

Mitch! Where are you? Please start doing the shows again.

Mitch! It’s almost been six months, you’re fans miss your podcasts. If you’re settled back in California, give us a sign of life. Doesn’t need to be a full episode, just tell us how you’re doing.

Yeah, you guys are killing us with this lack of notes underground. You guys whooped up on Tracks up a Tree, and the few other similar banter + music shows.
Just because you have families, and jobs, and important paying things to do is no reason to stop entertaining us with kickass podcasting.
Hell, I think we’d all settle for a Skype show if you guys can find the time.
